Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to frequently asked questions about REDR services, technologies, fees, and security.
Q. Is the initial diagnosis really free? Are there any hidden costs? keyboard_arrow_down
Yes, the diagnosis, quotation, and sample data recovery up to 1GB are completely free. We will verify if your sample files can be recovered and present the sample result along with a quotation beforehand. You can decide whether to sign a formal contract after reviewing these. No costs are incurred prior to signing.
Q. How does the "full refund guarantee" work if the recovery rate is under 80%? keyboard_arrow_down
During the initial diagnosis, we will agree with you on the target critical data (e.g., folders or specific extensions). If the recovery rate of these target data is less than 80% after the final operation, we will refund the operation fee in full. This SLA (Service Level Agreement) is explicitly stated in the contract.
Q. Do you negotiate with attackers or pay the ransom on our behalf? keyboard_arrow_down
No, we do not contact or negotiate with attackers, nor do we facilitate ransom payments using cryptocurrency. Our service uses a purely technical approach to reconstruct and restore encrypted files from their structure. This prevents funding attackers and ensures compliant data recovery.
Q. What security measures are in place for the data we provide? keyboard_arrow_down
We enforce extremely strict confidentiality. We do not upload or transfer your data to external cloud services or overseas servers. All data analysis is completed entirely within our secure on-premise environment in Japan or via secure private networks. All data is completely deleted upon completion. We can sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) before starting the diagnosis.
Q. What ransomware families do you support? keyboard_arrow_down
We support a wide range of ransomware encryption patterns, including major ones like LockBit, Akira, Qilin, and BrainCipher. While ransomware is constantly evolving, our technology reconstructs files based on structural damage rather than relying on static decryptors, yielding a high success rate across various families. We verify recoverability for free during the diagnosis.
Q. Is on-site (dispatch) support available for systems where physical removal of data is prohibited? keyboard_arrow_down
Generally, we perform operations remotely or by shipping storage media to our secure facility. However, for systems in financial or government organizations where data removal is strictly prohibited, we can dispatch engineers for on-site diagnosis and recovery upon consultation.
Have other questions or a specific incident to discuss?
We offer initial diagnosis (verifying recoverability with a sample) and quotations completely free of charge.
